Custom portraits & original line art

A photograph you love, redrawn as something truly yours.

Choose the style that speaks to you, upload your photograph and leave the rest to us. We’ll turn it into a one-of-a-kind line artwork, expertly composed in our studio and drawn in real ink on artist paper.

Made in South Africa. Drawn in real ink. Created from your photograph.
Drawn, not printed
The ordered lines difference

Not printed. Drawn.

Every Ordered Lines piece begins with careful creative decisions: what to keep, what to simplify and how the lines should flow.

Our studio composes your photograph in the Ordered Lines style you’ve selected. A pen plotter then draws the finished artwork onto paper in real ink, one line at a time.

It isn’t a print of a drawing.  It is the drawing.

INK, PAPER & CRAFT

Watch the drawing take shape.

The photograph has become a composition. The paper is ready. Then the pen begins to move.

Line by line, the drawing slowly takes shape in real ink. It is a quiet, precise process—and one of our favourite parts of making an Ordered Lines piece.

Materials

Made with materials worth noticing.

The character of a piece lives in its materials — the tooth of the paper, the flow of the ink, the weight of a line. We choose each element for how it feels in the hand as much as how it looks on the wall.

Quality artist paper

Heavyweight, acid-free papers — with archival-grade cotton stock for selected work.

Real Ink

Pigment and dye inks in a considered range of tones, laid down line by line.

Fountain & technical pens

Fine liners, technical pens and fountain nibs chosen to suit the character and detail of each artwork.

Considered colour

Soft greys, restrained palettes and the occasional deliberate accent—used only where colour adds something to the piece.

Made personal

Some moments deserve more than a photograph.

The wedding day. The dog who runs the house. The marathon you swore you’d never do again.

Whatever the story, we’ll turn it into an artwork that belongs in your home—not buried in your camera roll.

What will you have us draw?

The wedding day
A couple, together
The whole family
A beloved pet
A meaningful place
A marathon, finished

The studio

The design comes first. Then the drawing machine plots you  artwork.

Once your order reaches our studio, the creative process begins.

We decide how to crop the photograph, what to keep, what to simplify and how the composition should flow. Every choice is made within the style you selected, while keeping the character of your photograph at the heart of the finished artwork.

The plotter is our drawing instrument—patient, precise and able to turn our studio’s composition into beautiful peace you will enjoy for a lifetime.

Human designed. Machine drawn. Unmistakably Ordered Lines.

Kind words

A few words from people who live with an Ordered Lines piece.

“

The portrait of our two dogs is the first thing everyone notices. It feels like a real artwork, not a print.

We gave my parents a line drawing from their wedding photo for their anniversary. My mother cried. Worth every rand.

My Two Oceans route, drawn in ink and framed above my desk. Far better than another finisher's medal in a drawer.
